Synopsis
The Retirement:
A hitman at the top of his game tries to retire after a near fatal injury changes his career trajectory.
Why:
Intention Films and Media LLC has one goal – to tell the stories that make people “feel” to the best of our abilities. Whether drama, comedy, spiritual, horror, fantasy; we always try to take on new artistic terrain.
We have never done a vertical series or an action film – we will take on both with The Retirement.
How it came about:
Glenn McBride, Jr. came to me with a short script he wanted me to direct called, The Retirement. I read it, liked it, and asked him if I could rewrite it. He said, “okay!” Everytime I changed it, I sent it to Glenn for approval. When I changed so much of it other than one character’s name and one paragraph, Glenn said, “Go with it, Deb, it’s yours, you take the reins, I just want to be the handler.” It appealed to me because I had never done an action film before, and I love learning and growing as an artist. For us, the best way to learn about something is to do it, and so, we’re doing it!

Our Cast:
Jax – Travis Grant
Jax doesn’t enjoy killing, but he loves being good at it. Growing up in the foster care system, he has no family, and he’s okay with that. He chooses not to have serious relationships because it would put his friends, and himself, in danger. He avails himself of professional company when needed, moves frequently and keeps himself in the shadows.
After a near fatal injury which shakes his confidence, he considers retirement while he still has a chance at life.
Regan – Glenn McBride,Jr.
Regan is Jax’s handler. They have a professional relationship, and while Regan appears low-key, he knows everything that is happening and where he can find everyone despite how carefully they try to hide. Jax is his best killer, and Regan takes more crap from him than anyone else would dare, because he knows how valuable Jax is.Regan sees himself as a familial figure to Jax.=
Jesenia – (still casting)
A visiting nurse who takes an interest in Jax. She knows he’s dangerous, but he promises never to hurt her. Their affair breaks all of Jax’s rules. They get involved. Despite his never letting women over to his residence, he makes an exception for Jesenia – a situation that puts them both in danger.
Eva – (still casting)
Despite his attempt to not be seen in public, Jax has run into Eva, a waitress, more than once, and he entertains her banter. She flirts, and he doesn’t completely dissuade her. His fantasy about being able to retire leads him to contemplate what a normal life would be like.
Hair Make-up and Make-up FX – the best of the best – Jennifer Elyse Feldman. Jenn will be handling make-up, blood, and bullet wounds, and keeping all of our locations safe and clean.
What to expect:
Verticals require sex and violence. Sorry, not sorry. No nudity, but the heat is up in this series. I want scene-to-scene eye candy. A chance to sit back and watch some great actors do their thing for all of our entertainment. There will be blood, and violence, and did I say sex?. C’mon, he’s a hitman!
When and Where – Long Island! We don’t have all our locations yet, but we will begin scouting soon! If you have a cool place and want us to film there (and you can get a chance to die on screen!) hit me up at debra.markowitz@gmail.com
