Her first documentary, Tiny Movements, premiers this June at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. Laura is a member of SAG- AFTRA, Georgetown Entertainment Media Alliance (GEMA), and a Co-Leader of FILMSHOP South Brooklyn Chapter. Gregory Cioffi (SAG-AFTRA, AEA) is a professional actor, an award-winning director, professor, published author, and the current Nassau County Poet Laureate (2026-2028). He is particularly proud of his first full volume of poetry – Poetic Anarchy. His most recent chapbook, Summer Heat: Poems of Passion, was published in 2025 by Wyld Syde Press. His debut novel The Devil in the Diamond was released in 2023 by Henry Gray Publishing. Other works have been published in The Feral Press, Mystery Weekly Magazine, The Red Penguin Collection, The Golden Lion, New Generation Beat Publications, The Scene, Queen Mob’s Tea House, The Nassau County Poet Laureate Society Review, Little Old Lady (LOL) Comedy, The RavensPerch, Blood Moon Rising Magazine, Fleas on the Dog, The Five-Two, Aphelion, Local Gems Press, Long Island Sounds, FDQ Review, Post University’s Pop-Up Mag, Bindle, Allegory Ridge, and various anthologies. His next film, The Concertgoer, premiered at the New York City Short Comedy Film Festival and went on to be nominated for Best Art Direction at LIIFE. Look out for his upcoming film A Mother’s Voice on the festival circuit! You may have also caught Beyond the Silent Night, a tribute to the remembrance of 9/11 released in 2026 for the tragedy’s 25th anniversary. You might have noticed him on the stage or screen in The Irishman, Transit: A New York City Fairytale, The Godfather of Harlem, AMC’s The Making of the Mob, or in Tony n Tina’s Wedding where, for the last decade, he has been married hundreds of times nationally and internationally. Greg is an Adjunct Professor of English at Long Island University, an Associate Professor of Literature & Composition at Post University, and he also teaches Creative Writing, Poetry, and Basic Acting at Nassau Community College.

Russ is a versatile and accomplished director/actor/acting coach/cinematographer, screenwriter, and editor – a rare combination of skills – with over 30 years of professional experience.
He has directed and acted in a variety of stage and film productions, showcasing his versatility and talent. An Award-winning filmmaker, videographer, actor, and stage director Known for leading projects from concept through delivery with creative vision and technical excellence. A proven track record of producing and directing award-winning feature films, documentaries, and stage productions.
In film and media, Russ has an impressive track record, having produced SEVEN independent FEATURE films, directed two, and starred in and edited six of them.
Notably, he directed and produced and edited “Lower Than the Angels,” an award-winning adaptation of a stage play that received Best Feature Film at the Long Island BF Film Festival in 2006. Another notable work is the thriller “Night for Day,” which Russ Wrote, directed and produced, earning him the Best Long Island Feature award at the Long Island International Film EXPO, as well as a Best Actor award.
Russ ‘film “The Video Guys,” a comedy in which he co-produced and starred in achieved great success, winning Best Feature Film at the International Family Film Festival in Hollywood, the Hoboken Film Festival, and the LI Film Expo.
Another feature film he produced and edited “Send No Flowers,” in which he co-starred with Sean Young and Tony LoBianco, earned him a Best Actor award and Best Editing award at the LI Film Expo. It secured distribution with Multicom Entertainment Group and is available for streaming worldwide.
Another film he produced and edited and starred in , “The Night Never Sleeps,“ featuring renowned actors such as Armand Assante, Eric Roberts, and
Robert Clohessy, received critical acclaim and garnered Russ a Best Supporting Actor award at the Hoboken Film Festival and the LI Film Expo. The Feature documentary “Come Hell or High Water,” which he shot, co-produced, and edited in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, won Best Feature Documentary at the Queens World Film Festival in 2005. His latest feature film project is the comedy “The Proctor” which he produced , edited and Co-Starred in. It has already garnered several awards at film festivals including a best supporting actor award for Russ.
In addition to his feature film work, Russ has written, produced, directed , edited and starred in countless award winning short films. As a theater director, Russ has helmed acclaimed productions of classic plays such as “Julius Caesar” (winner of the Off Broadway Oobr award) “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,”” Othello” “The good Doctor” “Sideman”, “Prelude to a Kiss” , Steel magnolias “ and “A Streetcar Named Desire”, among many, many others, …captivating audiences in the NYC-Tri-State area.
In addition to his notable achievements in film and theater, Russ has also dedicated his time to teaching acting technique through his classes called The Acting Gym since 1996, offering aspiring actors on Long Island professional training in their local area. With a background in various acting techniques, including Meisner, Method, and Practical Aesthetics, the thrust of what Russ tries to communicate to cast, crew and audience, is the service to story.

On Monday, May 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM EST, we welcome friend, actress, writer, filmmaker, Maureen VanTrease to the Best of Intentions Podcast, the podcast of Intention Films and Media.
Maureen VanTrease is an American actress, playwright and producer, serving as writer, Executive Producer and lead actress on “Welcome To Belle View”, (2025) a pilot exploring the world of skilled nursing facilities, which had its New York Premier at the Big Apple Film fest and also won Best TV Webisode with the Southern Shorts Awards in Atlanta. She was also named Best Actress for Belle View by Southern Shorts.
A native of Lancaster, PA, she has performed in well over a hundred shows and musicals in regional, London and New York theaters. She taught 7th Grade English while performing in the SPT theaters of Tampa Bay, winning Best Actress in the Tampa Bay area for Agnes in Agnes of God, Roxanne in Cyrano de Bergerac and Sonya in Uncle Vanya. She moved to London to study musical theater at Mountview Conservatoire for the Performing Arts in their postgraduate program and then moved to New York City.
She has worked in the NYC Fringe Festival and Planet Connections Theater Festivity, winning a Best Supporting Actress award for “Hell Is Where the Heart Is” and a Best Actress nomination for “The Closet”. Her work as a playwright has garnered her a Best Adaptation nomination at Planet Connections for her play “Those Whistling Lads: The Poetry and Short Stories of Dorothy Parker” where she also played the lead role of Dorothy.
In NYC, she has starred in Leitmotif as a shy stalker, and then as Terri in 8:46, a film about 9/11 which went to the Cannes Marché du Filme and was subsequently shown on Netflix. She has worked with Howard Reichman on his HBO TV Pilot Wired City and co-produced and starred in The Spy Who Scratched Me, a 48-Hour Film Fest entry that has gone on to screenings in film festivals worldwide. She shared in the Festival International Cannes Award at the French Independent Film Festival for Best Cast in My Dinner With Schwartzey.

J.R. Stokes is an independent filmmaker from New York. From a very young age, J.R. has taken a strong interest in the art of storytelling and hopes to continue having the privilege of curating films that can push the boundaries of independent filmmaking. Tom Ciorciari is an accomplished stage and film actor, based out of Long Island and New York City. Starting at a young age, he studied in New York at both the acclaimed HB Studios and The Actor’s Studio, and has a long list of theater credits, as well as a growing resume of indie feature and short film work. He recently shot his first co-star role for season 25 of Law & Order, and received the award for Best Actor in a feature at the 2025 Queens World Film Festival for his performance in the film “Beautiful, Pam”.
Peter Konsevitch is a New York based actor and a two time Irene Ryan Award nominee. He most recently received an award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a feature at the 2026 Garden State Film Festival for his performance in the critically acclaimed independent feature film “Beautiful, Pam”.

Linda Collins is an award-winning actress and musician with a varied slate of films, theater and television in her body of work. She has won Best Actress awards from several Film Festivals in the United States, Canada and overseas. Most recently, she was awarded Best Actress at Long Island’s Shorts and Stout Film Festival, Best Actor/Producer at the Austin Revolution Film Festival, and Best Actress at the Venus on Broadway Film Festival for her latest film SILENT HARMONY, written and directed by Debra Markowitz. For this film, Linda served as Executive Producer, played the lead actress role, and composed original music and played piano(onscreen), as part of her character’s story. This music has been nominated for Best Music at the International Indie Film and Screenplay Festival where SILENT HARMONY will screen in Graz, Austria, at their live Awards Ceremony Event later this year. Linda’s work can be seen on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Discovery, History Channel, and Peacock, among others. She is committed to Indie productions, and work that has an important message for the world.
Linda also works in comedic productions, such as the pilot short “Three for the Road”, “Follow Me” (in pre-production), and the Off-Broadway production of “Robbie Rosenthal’s Bar Mitzvah Dinner”.
Linda spent several years playing French horn in symphony orchestras, musical theater productions, and as a recording musician. In that capacity, she has been previously regularly heard on CBC radio (Canada) and has performed live with such artists as Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax and both Willie Nelson and Sheryl Crow in the televised CMT Awards; and recorded with Jars of Clay, Matchbox 20, Garth Brooks and Amy Grant, among others. She has degrees from Duquesne University, summa cum laude, and Northern Illinois University in music performance. Linda is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. Her work background includes advocating for musicians’rights in the International Musicians Union in New York City, as well as in Canada, and as an advocate for the arts as an original member of the Canadian Advisory Committee on the Status of the Artist, which established legislation in Canada to protect artists’ rights. In addition to her current dramatic work in film and television, she maintains an active musical life as a performer and music director and is currently working on an album of original healing piano music.

The film was made in collaboration with writer/director Julie O’Hora, and is based on the first of Vincent Scarsella’s four book series, “Lawyers Gone Bad”. “One of the Good Ones” won The Audience Award at The 8th Annual Dunedin International Film Festival and is now available on Amazon Prime, Google Play and YouTube TV.
Tom often performs in procedural crime TV dramas (“FBI” – Seasons 2 and 5; “FBI: Most Wanted” – Seasons 2 and 6; “Law & Order: SVU” – Season 24 and “Blue Bloods – Season 10). This year, in addition to “One of the Good Ones”, Tom performed principal roles in feature films “Wish Watch” (2026), and “Chasing Christmas” (The Great American Family TV Network).
On the NYC stage, Tom recently appeared in Shakespeare’s “Pericles”, “Cymbeline” and “Twelfth Night”, plus Seamus Heaney’s “The Burial at Thebes”. This fall, he will play Sigmund Freud in “A Far Country” at The Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro, Vermont.
